Web development

Business applications, client portals and editorial platforms

I design and build custom web applications, from initial scoping through to production. I automate business processes (data processing and transformation, file generation, syncing between tools, API integration), with the aim of making their execution more reliable.

What I build

Internal business applications

Modelling your business rules, exceptions included, then building the matching screens: entry, search, approval, export. Checks live on the server and every action is traced.

Example: replace a set of shared spreadsheets with an application where every entry is traced and every rule checked.

Client portals

I build the authentication, the role model and the rules that decide what each profile sees. Your clients consult their documents and the progress of their file, each limited to what concerns them.

Sites and editorial platforms

Building the public-facing site along with the admin panel that feeds it, modelling your content types. Depending on what you edit and how often, I start from an existing CMS or write the back-office.

Deployment and production

I hand the application over deployed: containerisation, environment variables, database migrations, certificates, a release pipeline. Where your team or your hosting provider already runs the infrastructure, I work inside their chain and hand them what they need for the rest.

From scoping to production

01
Scoping
We define what the application has to do and for whom. What stays out of scope is written down too. I come back with the work split into deliverable batches and an estimate before anything starts.
02
Development
I deliver in iterations, with a version you can open at every step. You watch the application take shape, and the trade-offs get made on something real.
03
Production
Deployment, documentation, handover of the code and the access. The sensitive parts are covered by tests, and I can handle maintenance and further work afterwards.

Questions & Answers

Who handles the design?

+
Usually not me: I work from your mockups or an existing design system, with the states as well as the screens, meaning hover, focus, a field in error, an empty list, a loading view. When those are not planned the decisions still get made during integration, so they get made by me. I do also take the design on sometimes, on early-stage projects where I carry the whole thing and the scope is still open.

What about SEO and accessibility?

+
Both come down mostly to the HTML: heading hierarchy, labels tied to fields, described images, keyboard navigation, visible focus, sufficient contrast. Search adds server-side rendering, metadata and load times. I do not do content strategy or acquisition, and a full WCAG audit is a separate job.

Can another team pick the project up?

+
Yes. You will have access to the code, the repositories and the documentation. Hosting runs on your own infrastructure, unless we agree on a maintenance and hosting contract with me. I use widely adopted technologies and follow framework conventions.
